In a commanding performance at Wembley on Saturday, April 26, 2025, Crystal Palace secured a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup semifinal. The win propelled Palace to their third-ever FA Cup final, as they triumphed over a Villa side that has claimed the prestigious title seven times.

Ismaila Sarr was the star of the match, scoring twice to send his team to the final, continuing their remarkable run of form, having gone unbeaten in their last five matches. The FA Cup semifinal was expected to be a tightly contested affair, yet Crystal Palace seized the opportunity with a dominant display.

Although the match began slowly, with only two yellow cards in the opening stages, the intensity picked up as the first half wore on. Aston Villa struggled to find their rhythm, with their first real chance coming from a volley attempt by Morgan Rogers, which was narrowly wide.

Despite increasing pressure from Villa, Palace controlled the tempo and looked the more dangerous side.

This early goal gave Palace the momentum they needed, and although Villa managed to create a few more chances, they failed to break down the Palace defense, with the home team going into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Villa’s hopes of a comeback were given a brief boost when a penalty was awarded in their favor following a foul by Boubacar Kamara on Eze.

However, Palace's goalkeeper and defense held strong, with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s resulting penalty shot hitting the post, leaving Villa frustrated and without an equalizer. The match then swung firmly in Palace’s favor.

Sarr doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a well-timed assist from Adam Wharton, who had won the ball back in midfield. The second goal effectively sealed Villa’s fate, and despite several more opportunities, they were unable to find a response.

In injury time, Sarr completed his brace with a calm finish, securing a 3-0 win and confirming Palace’s place in the FA Cup final.
