The Dallas Mavericks took a crucial step toward securing a play-in spot with a dramatic 120-118 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Anthony Davis emerged as the hero despite playing with a bandage on his right eyebrow after a collision with teammate Daniel Gafford in the first quarter.

The injury forced Davis to briefly leave the game, but his return in the second quarter energized the Mavericks. Overcoming an 11-point deficit in the third quarter, Dallas fought back in the final minutes, with Davis delivering a clutch defensive rebound, a key assist to Klay Thompson for a game-tying three-pointer, and a crucial block on Trae Young.

With three seconds left, Davis sealed the win, marking the Mavericks' 38th victory of the season.

This marked his fifth game with the Mavericks since being traded and recovering from injury in February. The game also saw the return of Dereck Lively II, who had been sidelined since January with an ankle injury.

Lively contributed 4 points and 5 rebounds in limited minutes. Supporting Davis, Spencer Dinwiddie posted 14 points and 10 assists, while Klay Thompson added 17 points, hitting five three-pointers.

Off the bench, Max Christie and Daniel Gafford scored 11 points each, with Jaden Hardy chipping in 13.
